Tickets on Sale for the 50th Annual Western World Championships

Kevin Montgomery San Tan Valley, Ariz. (September 13, 2017) – As we race towards fall and the conclusion of the 2017 Championship season, race fans can look forward to the crisp cool fall evening’s in Arizona and the 50th running of the Western World Championships at Arizona Speedway. Tickets are now available for one of Arizona’s longest standing racing traditions featuring the greatest traditional Sprint Car drivers in the world.

Arizona Speedway will play host to the USAC National and CRA Sprint Cars with complete shows each night and winners taking home $5,000 on Friday and $7,500 on Saturday while the USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series will also take part in the festivities with a $3,000 winner’s check on both Friday and Saturday.

The long-standing tradition of sprint car racing in Arizona is synonymous with the Western World Championship’s and now the oldest race in Arizona history will take to Arizona’s newest race track. Arizona Speedway is set to host the 50th running of the Western World Championships Friday November 3rd and Saturday November 4th, 2017.

The 2017 Western World Championships will feature The Amsoil USAC National 410 Sprint Cars vs. USAC CRA 410 Sprint Cars along with USAC Southwest Sprint Cars. An open practice session will take place on Thursday evening, November 2 with racing action kicking off on Friday, November 3, at 7pm.

Chris Windom capitalized on his third consecutive USAC Amsoil National feature win to garner his first Western World title while Brady Bacon held of R.J. Johnson to win his third USAC Southwest Western World Crown.

Steve Kinser has claimed the most Western World titles with seven triumphs including wingless wins in 1982 and 1983 followed by winged wins in 1985, 1987, 1990, 1992 and 1996.
Ron Shuman is next on the list with five Western World triumphs, all of the wingless variety, with other drivers posting multiple Western World wins including Bryan Clauson (4), Donnie Schatz (3), Lealand McSpadden (3), Sammy Swindell (3), Brady Bacon (3), Bud Kaeding (2), Mark Kinser (2) and Jan Opperman (2).

USAC SPRINT CARS ARE BACK THIS SATURDAY NIGHT

  After the long awaited summer break, USAC Sprint cars are back in action this Saturday night September 9th at Arizona Speedway .    Don’t miss the sprint car spectacle kicking off at 7pm that also includes Pure Stocks, Dwarf Car and Robert Horne Ford Bombers.   Charles Davis Jr picked up the win during the June 10th meet with a close running points leader RJ Johnson crossing the line second followed by the hard charging Tye Mihocko .

  With the season winding down and points championships on the line the stars in all the divisions will all be at Arizona Speedway this Saturday night.

ASCS WING SPRINT CARS TRIBUTE TO STEVE STROUD AND FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR

ASCS Wing Sprint Cars bring the heat to Arizona Speedway Saturday night July 1st paying tribute to an Icon of the Racing community Steve Stroud.  Also included will be a HUGE intermission fireworks show by Patriot Fireworks and an added Steve Stroud Arizona Open Wheel Racing Museum $2000 to win bonus plus free snow cones from Jan Stroud in honor of Steves Birthday .

This all in one action feature includes the fastest Wing Sprint Cars in the South West along with fireworks, IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks,  Robert Horne Ford Bombers and the some of the best dirt track racing in the country.
See the ASCS and all of the dirt track stars for the final time until fall Saturday night July 1st at Arizona Speedway.

SUMMER SHOWDOWN AT THE SPEEDROME

   Saturday night the Arizona Speedway Speedrome will play host to IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, Robert Horne Ford Bombers and Lady Stocks.  

  After last Saturday nights performance there are big shoes to fill as the IMCA Modifieds took it down to the wire in one of the best modified races of 2017.    John Morris, Darrin Center and Don Earven crossed the finishline in the top 3 spots with Chaz Baca crossing in 4th in a thriller.  All will be looking to take a crack at the points lead Don Earven has built in the 1x machine.

  Anthony Catena got a taste of winning last week and will try and etch away at the points lead Steve Soboski has built nearing the mid point of the season over himself and Larry Brigner. 

  Dwarf Cars return for the first time in awhile and will bring the heat as the the top 10 in the division have went head to head all year long. 

  Bombers come into the night in a tight battle for the top 3 positions with Mikey Soboski leading Bret Bierman by 7 points and  Jesse Stonechipher by only 19 points.  

  Lady Stocks will round out the evening of racing with Amanda Hasley and Jennifer Hall leading both Powder Puff and Dirt Doll divisions.
